Sacred Heart Secondary School students won the All-Ireland Concern Debating competition in the Helix, DCU in Dublin yesterday evening. Team members, Laura Walsh, Maebh McCarthy, Natasha Sutton and Caoimhe Ní Sulleabháin defeated CBS Carlow in an eagerly fought contest. The students from Clonakilty opposed the motion that "The Trump Presidency was a blessing in disguise for Africa". The team were congratulated by over 80 of their fellow students who travelled to Dublin to watch the final which was also streamed live on Instagram. Mentors Ms. E. Harte and S.O'Shea were delighted to witness their students deliver and debate the motion with such confidence and sophistication, something that did not go unnoticed with the adjudication panel. The students now travel to Malawi, Africa as part of their winning prize.
