Book Rental Scheme Rules and Regulations

All books supplied under the Book Rental Scheme shall remain the property of Sacred Heart Secondary School.Individual textbooks may not be rented.Each student may rent a set of books appropriate to her subject choice for one school year.Application form and appropriate fee must be submitted to the school before the advised deadline.Students will receive their books on the first day of term.

Books must be kept in good condition. Students will be liable for unreasonable damage.  Biro may not be used. If the books need to be written on use soft pencil only.Only textbooks will be supplied under the scheme

Test papers, copybooks, manuscripts, English novels, dictionaries, and some workbooks are not included in the scheme, as it is expected that students will write on these.Books must not be written on or defaced in any way.

Books will be covered prior to being supplied to students.  Ongoing maintenance of each book will be the student's responsibility.  The student must ensure that each book remains covered.All books must be returned on or before the last day of the school year.The condition of each book returned to the school will be verified.

If a student is unable to return a book, the student will be liable for the replacement value of the book.If a student returns a book in damaged condition, the student will be liable for a fee of up to 50% of the value of the book.In the event of a student owing monies to the Book Rental Scheme (through damage, loss or non-payment of fees), the student will not be eligible for re-entry to the scheme.In the event of a student leaving the school, all books borrowed under the rental scheme must be returned to the school.This is the only book rental scheme operating in the school.  The school shall have no responsibility for any other book rental scheme.It is the responsibility of the student to take care of the books, to have them appropriately labelled, and to return them at the end of the school year.If a student has any problems with the book rental scheme, she should promptly bring them to the attention of the class tutor.
