Don't Sit Get Fit Initiative begins at Sacred Heart

SHSS is starting a new initiative, Don’t Sit! Get Fit!, to get students to be more active in their daily routines. The main emphasise it on DAILY activity becoming ‘routine’. That it is a habit and promotes an active lifestyle and not a focus on competition or sport. It shouldn't be something they should see as being forced to do.

What will it involve?

1. One lunch time a week for 30 mins in the gym/astro pitch:

-walking around the gym/astro depending on the weather

- weights will be available and music.

-ATTENDANCE SHEET WILL BE COMPLETED EACH WEEK.

2. During SPHE classes: walks/exercise routines every few classes

3. Every TUESDAY after school for 45mins: all level fitness and exercise class, fun with music, all welcome.

The following are the time for each year group=

-1st years= Monday lunch 1-1.30

-2nd years= Tuesday lunch 1-1.30

-3rd years= Wednesday lunch 1-1.30

-5thyears= Thursday lunch 1-1.30

-6thyears= Fridaylunch 1-1.30

Ty’s= Who manage attendance of the year group that is scheduled for the day they are scheduled for.

-4.1=Monday, 4.2=Tuesday, 4.3 = Wednesday, HALF 4.4=Thursdayand the other HALF 4.4 =FRIDAY

We really want it to be a success and really want it to get the girls to see the importance of active daily lives. I hope you see the importance of and support such an initiative and emphasise the message at home as well.
