Young Social Innovator Project Invited to Dublin to Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Immigrant Council of Ireland

s a result of our YSI project "I'm Still Human: Understanding the Islamic Community" we (Anna Mc Carthy, Clodagh O'Sullivan and our teacher Ms. Elaine Galvin) were invited to attend the first stakeholder meeting on resource materials on intolerance against Muslims for teachers. The event was hosted by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Immigrant Council of Ireland. As part of the meeting we received the opportunity to discuss our project and our perspective on the current resources available with some of the leading figures in education and human rights in Ireland such as Dr James Carr of the Department of Sociology University of Limerick, members of the Department of Education and the Immigrant Council of Ireland. One of the main points was the need for inclusion of multicultural education in the new Well Being module. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the warm reception we received. As we wait the results of our YSI speak out performance we will continue to stay in contact with the members of the various organisations that attended the conference.
