TY Students complete 87 KM leg of "Cycle against Suicide"
We arrived in Fermoy at 8 a.m. on Thursday the 4th of May to set off on our 87km cycle to Thurles.
The cycle started at approx. 11 a.m. There were loads of supporters out as we set off on our journey which helped immensely. The atmosphere throughout the day was unreal! The cycle itself was tough at times especially Fermoy hill!!!The encouragement from each other really kept you going. Sacred Heart girls themselves even lead the cycle for 30km! We stopped frequently throughout the day to refuel ourselves and have a small break. We stopped at Rockwell College for lunch for about an hour and set off again towards Thurles. The day was very rewarding and we made new friends. We received a lot of support throughout the day and we are all extremely grateful to Ms. Galvin and Mr. Peglar for all their help and encouragement. We couldn’t have achieved it without them! Overall the day consumed of “Slowing” being over-shouted, protein bars being over-eaten, our legs being over-used, but the importance of what we were cycling for was never under-estimated and proved that it’s okay not to feel okay and it’s absolutely okay to ask for help!
