6th Year Economics students come 3rd in Bank of Ireland Bond Trader Challenge

Ten Leaving Cert Economic students travelled to Killarney to compete in Bank of Ireland's Bond Trader Challenge. With 26 schools from Cork and Kerry taking part, the competition was fierce between the 120+ students in the room.

The event began with an overview of markets and trading and how to trade with bonds, shares and cash.

Students then had to respond to nine real market scenarios and make decisions on how to manage their own bond portfolio.

This was the first time Sacred Heart entered the competition and both SHSS teams performed very well. In particular, congratulations to Geraldine O'Brien, Lauren O'Sullivan, Katie Sexton, Kate Burke and Kasia Mertuszka who managed their portfolio very professionally and came in 3rd place overall. A great day was had by all students. Thank you to their teacher MS Collins who arranged the trip and accompanied the girls on the day
