Senior Camogie Victory!

Sacred Heart 2-14 Presentation Thurles 1-7

Our Senior Camogie team made the long journey to Thurles for the Munster Senior A Camogie Championship v Pres Thurles on a damp and dark Thursday morning, but returned home victorious after a superb performance.

Playing with the aid of a strong breeze, SHSS raced in to a four point lead but as the water break approached, Pres Thurles delivered a hammer blow in the form of a well taken goal and for good measure a point .

First water break 1-1 to 0-4.

SHSS regrouped and tacked on five more points to their opponents three to take a well deserved but perilous two point lead facing into the second half. Eimear and Katie accounting for four each and Roisin one.

The third quarter mirrored what had preceded as Pres closed the deficit to one before the spirit that epitomises SHSS Camogie shone through. The backs shut up shop and the midfield and forwards went about their business and playing into the strongest of winds and against all the odds Clon led by 0-13 to 1-5. Millie, Amy Mc, Caoimhe, Lydia, Maeve and Roisin proving immense contributions.

The last quarter saw Maebh O Brien finishing the game as a contest with 1-1 within seconds and the defence led by Mary, Ciara, Niamh. Alannah and Kate shutting down all Pres’ opportunities,until in the dying embers of the game when Thurles added some gloss to their tally with a well taken goal.
