College Awareness Week at Sacred Heart Secondary School
From the 17th to the 25th of November, Sacred Heart Secondary School was alive with activity as students explored the many pathways available to them after their time at SHSS.
Second Year students welcomed guest speaker Ms. Clodagh Murphy, who shared her experience studying Law International at UCC. She encouraged students to reflect on their skills, interests, and hobbies, highlighting how these can influence future choices or simply bring joy.
Transition Year students visited the First Year Guidance class to discuss subject choice, chat about their own plans, and showcase a selection of college merchandise.
Fifth Year students attended an engaging talk from Dr. Sinéad O’Donovan, who explored the connection between gut health and brain function. She reminded students that they have the power to “charge their own batteries” and take leadership in their own lives.
On Thursday the 22nd, Transition Year students travelled to the STEM event at Cork City Hall, where they explored stalls from colleges and STEM employers, gaining insight into the wide range of opportunities within science, technology, engineering, and maths.
It was a fantastic week filled with insight, inspiration, and valuable future planning for all involved.
