Sacred Heart-Waldaschaff Exchange a big Success

What a week! It all started with an overnight bus trip to Dublin Airport for the 6am flight to Frankfurt and then a coach to Waldaschaff, where the students met their host families at the school. A beautiful BBQ and school tour awiaited the students and it was then off to the massive climbing walls at Aschaffenberg, where an exhausted group scaled significant heights! A good night’s sleep and with the batteries charged up for the remiander of the week, the students experienced cooking, German language lessons, Mountain biking, a nature walk, Pizza, Table quiz and dancing! Further cultural experiences were gained at the local May Fest celebrations on Thursday and Friday, where music, karaoke and line dancing were to the fore. A beautiful excursion and tour of Aschaffenberg and family time concluded an amazing week for the Clonakilty students. We thank Peter Sander and all the school community of Waldaschaff for their welcome and jam-packed programme. We thank Markus Ritter and Kurt Dyroff of the twinning committee for their generosity, organisation and support. Finally without the fantastic host families of Waldaschaff, there would be no school exchange programme. Vielen Dank! We look forward to welcoming back the Waldaschaff students in 2027 for the return trip!
