Soccer Camps
Transition year students have been involved in soccer camps this year organised by the FAI. This has also included a soccer reffing camp.
The girls arrived at the rugby club at 8:30 to set up the goals and pitches before the arrival of the Primary School students. When the Primary School students arrived they were sent to their designated pitches where the girls warmed them up ,and prepared them for their games. The girls then refereed a number of matches and two of the girls were taught how to record scores/matches in the form of tables on a score recording app. The day ended in two of the girls refereeing semi-finals and then one refereed the final. The girls then tidied up all the pitches and goals before returning to school.
The following week the girls repeated this for the primary school boys blitz also in the rugby club.
Some of these girls are Garda vetted ,and will be participating in a soccer coaching course with Conor Fionn McKahey, development officer with FAI .It is hoped they will get placements volunteering at camps for children during the summer.
The Transition Year students involved include :Ciara O Regan,Katherine o Donovan,Leah Wilson,Lizzie Mc Caughey,Emer Whelton,Emily Hodnett,Saoirse O Donnell,Sinead O Callaghan and Katie Hilliard.
