Resilience building talk, at O’Donovan's Hotel next Monday 28th January at 7.30pm.

At the Annual Parent’s Association AGM on 19th September 2018, Executive Coach and Mentor Barbara Nugent introduced us to Jess.  Jess is a resilience-building programme to help children and adults learn about the building-blocks of resilience and how to start at a young age, to identify and develop those skills.

Jess is named after the daughter of Well-being Coach, Shelley Crawford, who at age 19 tried to take her own life.  As part of her recovery Jessica and Shelley worked together to understand how someone can deal with adversity (big and small) and come back to a fulfilling and happy life.  In doing so, they identified with the aid of research and science, the specific things that helped them to “bounce forward”. Today, Jessica hand carves the Jess tools which are currently used in organisations in Dublin, Belfast and Cork to teach people why resilience is so important and how we can become more resilient.

Barbara is a Jess practitioner and works with Shelley, Jessica and others to bring this unique board-game and puzzle based on the Jess model, to life.  She presented these tools to those at the AGM with the view of bringing this programme to the girls of Sacred Heart and their parents.  See more at https://bit.ly/2pm9DMA or  http://www.jess.global/
