RSA TY Presentation
I really enjoyed the RSA Safety TY Presentation that took place in the Quality Hotel , Clonakilty on Thursday, October 9th .As a teenager ,I found this presentation very eye opening. I thought it was great for raising awareness on something that is so prominent in our lives. Before this I didn't give much thought about how possible it could be to find yourself in a dangerous situation on the road. This talk gave a great insight ,and advice on how to be safe, not just as a teenager, but for all.
I found that inviting a person who has experienced a tragic car accident was very useful. Her story was heartbreaking and it showed us that it can happen to anybody- even if they are doing everything right. It also motivates drivers to be following all the rules of the road. I learned that someone being unsafe on the road doesn't only affect the driver- it can affect everyone from drivers, passengers, pedestrians and families of the people affected.
I also thought that the demonstration of a car accident was very interesting. Prior to this, I had never seen how firefighters, paramedics and guards work in situations as such. It was a very real life scenario ,and everyone took it seriously so it could look as realistic as possible. It was great to see ,and to be offered the opportunity , as a result, to consider if I would like to do pursue any of these careers in the future.
Overall, I thought the RSA Road Safety Presentation was great and I hope that this continues to be presented every year to TY students.
Thanks to all who organised this event. A special thank you to Garda Liam Ryan of our local Garda Station, Ronan Archibald, Fire Officer with our local Fire Brigade service, and Caroline Casey of the RSA.
