The European Youth Parliament (EYP) Ireland is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organisation that runs a number of conferences every year for young people. EYP Ireland is one of 36 national committees of the European Youth Parliament Network.
It is the mission of the EYP Ireland to develop an interest in European issues among young people in Ireland. They seek to empower the youth to question the world around them, and come up with innovative solutions to global problems, while emphasising concepts of cooperation and respect.
EYP Ireland has been in existence for over 25 years. Since it’s foundation it has organised dozens of conferences for secondary school students across Ireland, promoting awareness of European issues among young people. Through Team-Building, Committee Work and Open Debate and Discussion in General Assembly participants have great fun ,while engaging with major European & Global Matters.
May the Voices of Young People Continue to be Heard.
My Personal Experience of the European Youth Parliament Ireland Munster Regional Session
The European Youth Parliament Ireland Munster Regional Session was on from 15.02.2026 to 17.02.2026, during midterm break. We stayed in Sheylas Hostel in Cork.
On the first day, we were getting to know the officials and our committees and doing teambuilding exercises.
The second day was committee work. Our group was the committee of culture and education, and our topic was how to use AI in education in order to harness its advantages while minimising the harm. Over the course of the day, we came up with a resolution to present to the others the next day. That evening, we also had workshops on public speaking, how EYP as an organisation works, and ways to go abroad with EYP.
On the third day, we had a General Assembly, where all 11 committees presented their resolutions. My role in the group was to do one of the open debate rounds where the audience asked four questions and I had ninety seconds to answer them.
The session ended with a closing ceremony.
I really enjoyed my time there. We had some really good conversations and discussions and I will definitely apply again next year.
