Past pupil of Sacred Heart, and Former Transition Year student,Frances Collins meets Pope Frances

Frances was formally accredited as the eleventh Ambassador of Ireland to the Holy See on November 29th, 2022. On that day Frances presented her credential letters to Pope Francis in the Vatican.Ireland and the Holy See share longstanding foreign policy priorities such as climate change, human rights, sustainable development, eradicating hunger, nuclear disarmament, migration and human trafficking, freedom of religion or belief, and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

The new ambassador holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History, Politics and Social Studies, and an MA in European Integration, both from the University of Limerick.

Ambassador Collins was formally vice-director of the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation section of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin.  Previously she had worked as vice-Head of Mission at the European Union delegation to South Sudan, as Second Secretary at Ireland’s embassy in Uganda, and as a desk officer for the Department of Foreign Affairs.
