TY Shed

When its town’s Men’s Shed began to thrive, the women of one West Cork community decided: If you can’t beat them, join them, and set up their own shed, “The Women’s Shed,” here in Clonakilty.

A group of TY students welcomed Rose Dempsey and Ita Hicks to Sacred Heart, as part of their Community Awareness Programme.During this session the girls introduced themselves to Rose and Ita , and were introduced to the work done by the women as members of the Women’s Shed,an extensive list of activities, and entertainments to suit all members. This include yoga, chair yoga, tai chi, art classes, day trips, lectures, gardening groups, book clubs, a historical information group, pole walking group, concert and play groups, and upcycling clothes and furniture, with work also been done on further education.

The girls are looking forward to getting involved in varying activities over the coming weeks.
