Daffodil Day 2026
The annual Irish Cancer Society Daffodil Day takes place today Friday 20th March. Clonakilty are delighted to announce Majella O’Donnell will be the guest of honour at this year's event. Majella is widely known ,and recognised for her advocacy work, and for openly sharing her experiences with cancer ,in doing so helping to raise awareness.
Unfortunately , Cancer affects so many people .We will all know ,at some stage in our life ,someone affected by Cancer.
Patients and recovering patients of all ages ,and from all over Ireland , at this time , tell their stories of diagnosis, treatment, recovery and the huge role the many services of the Irish Cancer Society (ICS) played, at all stages of their illness, and recovery.
Today we extend a Big “Thank You” to Liz O’ Regan, and and Therese Hayes, both past pupils of Sacred Heart , for the amazing work they continue to do for the Irish Cancer Society. This year Liz and Therese celebrate 25 years of dedication , and commitment to the Irish Cancer Society.
We also take this opportunity to say “Thank You “ to the students here in our school, in particular our Transition year , and LCA students , both past and present , who have contributed greatly to Daffodil Day through their fundraising in various venues in town, and through the selling of merchandise here in school. To both staff and students Happy Daffodil Day. Continue to support this wonderful organisation.
