Transition Year 2026-2027
TRANSITION YEAR 2026-2027
“There is nothing in a Caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a Butterfly.”(R. Buckminster Fuller)
Our Transition Year Class 2026-2027 had their Induction Day on Wednesday, September 2nd. The students were welcomed back to Sacred Heart by our Principal, Ms Ann Marie Brosnan, Deputy Principal Mr Brendan Walsh, Transition Year Year Heads Ms Caroline McCarthy, Ms Brid Hennessy ,Mr William Browne, and TY CoOrdinator Ms Eileen Harte.
The main message delivered to the students included:
“Step into this year with an open mind: collect experiences, embrace the unknown, and remember that the best lessons happen outside your comfort zone."
"This is your year to trade routine for discovery, fear for trying, and 'one day' for 'day one'."
New Chapter: "Today marks the first page of an unscripted adventure. Make it count.
The girls were introduced to the TY Motto during the course of the day. This Motto is :
“There is nothing in a Caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a Butterfly.”
The girls were reminded of the powerful message involved in this Motto. This message is included in the story below.
“Before a caterpillar can fly, it goes through a stage called the chrysalis. To the outside world, it looks like nothing is happening. It looks like it's just sitting there in the dark. Inside that shell, things get messy. The caterpillar actually breaks down completely. It dissolves into mush before it can rebuild into something new.Growth feels exactly like that. It’s uncomfortable. It’s confusing. Sometimes, it feels like you are completely falling apart.
But that messiness isn't the end of your story—it is the blueprint for your wings. Every struggle you are facing right now is developing the strength you will need to fly. If someone were to cut open that cocoon early to "help" the butterfly, it would never fly, because the struggle of pushing through the shell is what pumps fluid into its wings. So when you feel overwhelmed by change, remember the caterpillar. Trust the messy process of growing up. You aren't losing yourself; you are just preparing to fly.”
Girls we look forward to the beautiful Butterflies we know you will become during your Transition Year.
Here’s to a Great Transition Year for all our Transition Year students, and all Staff ,here at Sacred Heart.
