Word Power! Nabeela Islam Wins National Linguistics Award!

Everyone at SHSS is delighted to congratulate 2nd Year student Nabeela Islam on her outstanding achievement in the International Linguistics Challenge.

A lovely and conscientious student, Nabeela achieved remarkable success, placing 1st in Ireland in the Junior Category and ranking among the top 15% of over 1,400 participants worldwide. In recognition of this incredible accomplishment, she was also awarded the National Award for Ireland.

The International Linguistics Challenge is a prestigious global competition that encourages students to stretch beyond the classroom, developing advanced problem-solving skills while connecting with like-minded students across the world. Participants are challenged in areas such as verb arrangement, phonetics, syntax, and grammar.

Nabeela’s success saw her progress to the Final Round, the most advanced stage of the competition, where students complete a demanding timed online exam to showcase their linguistic ability.

This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud of Nabeela’s hard work, dedication, and academic excellence. We look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next!
